Ki & Ka - Short Story

"Wow, the Kulcha* tastes heavenly!" Rishi exclaimed lost in its taste. "You are gifted." praised the father-in-law, while gesturing for more gravy by sliding the bowl towards Bindu. She was running in and out of the kitchen fetching extra sugar for the Lassi* fulfilling her mother-in-law's sweet tooth. She made sure that her family had a satiable breakfast. My moments

I feel happiest in my skin when:   I achieve my personal goals and pull off those tasks that people say "You can never do it."   I savor that black-forest cake or dessert without any guilt or embarrassment by dining out alone.   I see my son waiting for me gaily until I finish off the chores and feel his tiny arms cuddling me while I sleep next to him, narrating bed-time stories.   I am true to myself, love, and accept the true 'me' even with my flaws.   I give a hundred percent of myself to anything I do.   My eyes have glistened with tears, and I find myself suppressing the laugh due to nostalgic recalling of school/college days with friends at midnight in a Whatsapp group chat.   My best-friend listens patiently to all my complaints and grumbles and still promises to be my side with her demeanor.   My frequency/vibration of thoughts matches with anyone, and we share a heart to heart conversation.   I bounce back again aft...

The book 'Hiraeth' is a compilation of 24 short stories inspired by the real-life events that portray the emotional pain and suffering of refugees (who were erstwhile normal people just like us) stunningly. The narration is flawless. It takes you to the shops of Lahore, labyrinth lanes of Delhi, the Gurudwara, and the refugee camps at several places. The assiduous research work by the author is reflected thro...
